Gods Word is Sweet
"Son of Man" in the Hebrew connotes the lineage that goes back to the namesake "man" - namely, Adam.
And we know that we see Jesus using this same saying:
Ezekiel heard God define his ministry- God speaks the truth, it is somewhat different than how we view prophecy. We view prophecy as being the foretelling of events future from times past, and while that does happen, in this instance, that is not an accurate picture of what is taking place. Instead what is happening has no time associated with it- if you will get that principle firmly entrenched in your mind, that time has no frame of reference to an eternal God; it may help you to see that past, present and future are all one to God who has no time- we, the creation, have time, God, the creator does not have time, in some sense, time reflects, images Him. So it is that God begins to prepare Ezekiel for the experience of becoming capable of being unyielding to the pressure of people who are in rebellion. It is almost impossible for you and I to fathom what these people lived in, and the lifestyle that they knew- brutal, unforgiving captivity, if not to alien cultures and enemies, then to an unforgiving and relentless environment. The Israelites as a nation were incapable of sticking to the task of being God's people, at first this seems to be an explanation of sin, they fell away from the righteous life. But that's an easy out to a very complex problem, simply put it amounts to this, God knew, God knows- and that creates a great many problems as to why God allows what God allows to happen without intervening. There are no easy nor pat answers- and that's tough within itself- one might say, hard, one might say, hardening. To Ezekiel it was a statement of what God was going to do in his life. To us that statement is known as prophecy- to the Israelites it was known as the truth of God. To the wise person it is the fact of God:
What will you do today with the fact of God- will you turn to Him and ask Him to keep you, forgive you, love you? Or will you turn to Him and ask Him to allow you to be kept, be forgiven and be loved? Both are acts of faith, both are stances of faith, but one of them "feels" right to us, which one would you say, feels right? So we know that as Ezekiel took in the Word of God, as he ingested the scroll, it tasted sweet! The truth, the ways of God, are sweet, aren't they? Love which is what God is, not what God does; is sweet, isn't it? So today as you take in the truth of life, you have breath, you have life, and it is because you have God who is love; take a moment and acknowledge to God that His truth, is sweet.
